A few weeks ago, I received a package in the mail that brought such joy to my heart.
As you may already know from my previous blog post, my baby sister is getting married next year! If you know my sister at all, you’d know that she’s creative, considerate and classy. (We like to refer to ourselves as the Classy Chasses).
You can imagine my surprise when I came home and had a note on my door stating that the UPS man came by and dropped off a package at the front office. This definitely had me curious. I thought “Did I order something online and forget?” (it wouldn’t be the first time) and then I thought “It’s not my birthday…right? Yeah, no it’s not my birthday”. What could it be?
When I picked it up from the office, the package was a box that was about the size of a square shoebox. I opened it up to find an envelope with my name on it sitting on top of tissue paper. I opened the envelope which had a card inside that said “It’s my turn to pop the question…” I immediately began squealing in my mind because I knew it was from my sister! Opening the card, it asked “Will you be my bridesmaid?” Oh my gosh, what a cool way to ask someone who lives far away to be such an important part of their wedding!
The best part? That wasn’t the only thing in the box! The next thing I was instructed to open was a small container that had a beautiful Kendra Scott necklace inside! Oddly enough, I had been eyeing to buy another one of their adorable stone necklaces, and this one was perfect!
Beyond the gift, was another larger envelope to open. This consisted of about 7-8 sheets of beautiful pearl paper that compiled together was a bridesmaid guide. While flipping through the guide, I couldn’t believe how genius my sister was to include this! Well I can believe it, because she always seems to think of every little detail! Each sheet had different important information for all of the bridesmaids to know, such as details about the wedding day itself (venue, time, location) as well as what our responsibilities were as a bridesmaid. I can tell you the main theme was “DON’T LET ME BE A BRIDEZILLA!” Haha.
The guide also included paragraphs written about how she knew each bridesmaid along with contact information for everyone so we could all communicate about planning the various wedding festivities. I must say, while reading what my sister wrote about me, I started to tear up. My sister and I have a very special and somewhat odd bond in that we didn’t actually grow up together. In fact, I didn’t even meet her until I was 21 years old. Weird, right? So naturally we never fought over which toy was mine or hers, we never secretly stole each other’s clothes growing up, or go on family vacations together. But, what we have now I wouldn’t change for the world. It’s like we’re best friends that don’t really have the sibling rivalry aspect. All we do is love one another, support each other, and laugh a lot together. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
So there you have it, my sister having a brilliant idea and sending me one of the best packages I’ve ever received. So yes, Kaylyn, I’d be honored to stand by your side on your wedding day.
